World Mission Sunday Special Collection

This special collection will be taken up the weekend of October 28 - 29. In 1926, Pope Pius XI instituted Mission Sunday for the whole Church. That day is celebrated in all the local Churches as the feast of catholicity and universal solidarity so Christians around the world over will recognize their common responsibility with regards to evangelization of the world. World Mission Sunday gathers support for the pastoral and evangelization programs and needs of more than 1,150 mission dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands and remote regions of Latin America. The funds gathered on World Mission Sunday are distributed in the Pope's name by the Society of the Propagation of the Faith - a Pontifical Mission Society.
