This ancient form of sung prayer consists of Scripture (mostly psalms), writings from the Church Fathers and intercessory prayers. Mothers of Grace is a group of moms that gather to share experiences and ideas along with supporting each other in raising their children and keeping their families strong through God's grace. The moms meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month at 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Religious Education Building. The program on February 3 will be the book club meeting on "The Grace of Enough" by Haley Stewart with discussions of Parts 2, 3 and Conclusion. All moms are welcome to join the group. Knights of Columbus Council #1329 will host its Annual Free Throw Competition on Saturday, February 8, at the OLV Gym. The Shoot is open to boys and girls ages 9 - 14 (as of Jan. 1, 2020). Proof of age is required. The Council competition will start at 10:00 a.m. with winners advancing to the District Shoot that will immediately follow the first competition. This Baptismal Instruction Class for parents and sponsors is held on the 2nd Tuesday of each month in the Cathedral Center (St. Raphael Meeting Room) from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Parents of children being baptized at The Cathedral of Our Lady of Victory must be parishioners. Parents who are baptizing their child at another Catholic Church and sponsors who need to attend a class in order to meet requirements of being a baptismal sponsor at another parish are welcome to attend. Participants will receive proof of attendance at the end of the evening to take to their parish to be included with the records required for the baptism. Parents of children to be baptized at the Cathedral should bring the child's city-issued birth certificate so that a copy may be made for the church records. Donations to this Diocesan Special Collection assist the Diocese in reaching out to the Catholic Church in Eastern Europe. This collection is always taken up on Ash Wednesday. In 2020, the Collection will be taken up on Ash Wednesday, February 26.

This Lenten course which has been adapted from the book entitled "The Return of the Prodigal Son", helps us to reflect on the meaning of the parable for our own lives. Divided into 6 sessions, the course moves through the parable exploring our reaction to the story. All of us who have experienced loneliness, dejection, jealousy or anger will respond to the persistent themes of homecoming, affirmation and reconciliation. Donations to this Diocesan Special Collection are used to help the poor around the world. Prior to 2018, Rice Bowl collections were taken up on the weekends of Lent and on Easter Sunday and a separate collection for Catholic Relief Services was also taken up on a specific weekend during Lent. These two individual Collections are now combined into the "Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl" Special Collection and is taken up on all weekends during Lent and on Easter Sunday.
